The Cramps at the absolute height of their power on their "A Date With Elvis" tour, featuring a set list that was never beaten and an energy never surpassed. Almost worth it alone to hear Lux charge on stage to the 'See See Rider' drum roll and belt out 'Heartbreak Hotel' at a speed Elvis never imagined. Hear great Luxisms such as "Ladies and Germs, you got goooood taste" , "We ain't been here in a long time, as a matter of fact, we ain't never been here, that's a hell of a long time" and "Here's a beautiful song, originally sung by a beautiful person. Me" Hear every clump of the mic hitting the deck, and imagine the poor roadie running out and standing it up again for him, probably 30 times each set, you remember. This has great quality audio, the best live album I've ever owned by them, better than 'Reelingnrockin.....' in my opinion, and unlike that album from the same tour, the WHOLE set.
This was released in 1987 I believe, but is truly in remarkable condition, I guess I only played it to record it onto cassette and more recently to stick it on my iPod. Seriously, there are no jumps, no major clicks or pops, just a tiny bit in the very quiet spaces such as between on stage chat. This in no way takes away from the magnificence of this highly regarded recording which rarely becomes available.
