The Damned: Damned, Damned, Damned, Vinyl LP
Stiff Records : Cat No (SEEZ1) 6.23316 BL. Mottled green label with blue writing.
My mind is playing tricks on me. I def recall buying the album after seeing the band at the Greyhound in Croydon on Sunday 15th Jan 1978, however, looking at Discogs there are a multitude of pressings of this album and the one for sale here appears to possibly be a later 1986 issue. However, note the bottom strap line on the rear sleeve, no mention of Decca…confused you will be… So may be mega rare or just rare.
The main things here are the immaculate condition of both disc and sleeve.
Sleeve in very good, no splits or significant creases, very minor pinching in a couple of places around the edges, will try to show in pics.
When originally bought it was played at most a doz. times, then filed away in their polythene sleeves on a shelf…only to now surface.
Visual inspection reveals discs are in seriously excellent condition, with bright glossy lustre and no spindle wear. Difficult to find even the feintest of surface marks, odd finger smudge near centre/run out groove.
Stampings on the run out grooves are:
Side 1: SII 6.23316-01-2/1
Side 2: SII 6.23316-01-1 (nb the 0 is slightly off centre/over
Stamped).
Again Discogs mentions numerous stamping configurations on run out grooves.
Please see the photos.
Selling on behalf of my Dad (who supplied all the info) from his personal collection, from the olden days when he collected vinyl.
Important perspective info, please read….thanks ?.
A few words about the vinyl grading.
I try to be as honest as possible, but all grades are based upon an experienced but ultimately subjective visual inspection, trying to identify and highlight obvious issues.
Back in the day whilst my Dad purchased much of the vinyl new, as he expanded his collection , (eventually running into a few thousand discs) hence many only played once, inevitably he was drawn to second hand (pre-loved) copies of certain discs, including the rarer original 1970’s issue boots.
As you will appreciate, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this or looking at the listing, the nature of many of these live/unofficial recordings meant that original production standards were not necessarily a top priority, with occasional mastering/pressing faults occurring.
Similarly with any second hand vinyl which in some cases is almost 50 years old they will potentially exhibit aural signs of having been played, sometimes a fair bit..these are not mint, new unplayed discs (unless stated).
The attraction for my Dad was either obtaining the different variations of an issue or otherwise unavailable rare recordings…its called collecting!
When playing vinyl my Dad had a Technics SL1800 turntable with Ortfon cartridge, so no thrashing and grinding on an old fidelity UA4! (early 70’s starter bedroom lo-fi, crank it up ?).
I aim to use recycled packaging when possible, but rest assure that your vinyl will be well packed and protected against the trials of postal travel!
Any questions or if you need more photos please ask.
If you have any issues please contact me before leaving feedback as my intention is to give you the e-bay buying experience that I myself would want, i.e. customer satisfaction all round.
