Description
From my personal Damned collection, this is a 100% genuine original 1978 copy of the Love Song demo on Dodgy Demo Co. Most of all it's never been played, so the label is unpierced. I got this copy new from a mail order ad in either Sounds or NME in January 1979, when I was a young punk fan, and have had it stored safely on record shelves for all 48 years since.
This is likely one of only a handful of unpierced original copies in the world.
I will include a unique Letter of Provenance and Authenticity for you to keep with the record.
Matrices:
- Side A: SGS-105-A1
- Side B: SGS-105-B1
- Although obviously unplayed there are a few very light handling scuffs visible under strong inspection light.
- It's unlikely that, should you decide to play the record, they would have any effect on listening.
- NB: this is the rarer black text variant of the label sticker.
- The original paper sleeve is somewhat yellowed with age.
- And at the top right is a note in black biro I made myself in 1979 as a reminder of what the record was. At the time I understood it to be a run of 200 copies, which was very much the common understanding at the time, but today sources like Discogs explain that it was actually 500.
- Will be shipped with the record in a new Spincare polyvinyl inner sleeve, plus the original paper sleeve separately, in a new Spincare vinyl outer sleeve.
I'm selling off my Damned vinyl collection from the late 70s, including plenty of rarities, several autographed in person by Dave Vanian at Eric's club in Liverpool at the time. Please see my other items.
