This is an authentic First Pressing, Later Run of The Doors' legendary self-titled debut from 1967. This copy is a prime example of the "transitional" packaging used during the album's massive success: it features a Mono record (EKL-4007) housed in a Stereo jacket (EKS-74007) that was factory-designated as "MONO" via a printed identifier at the top. This occurred when the plant ran out of dedicated mono covers during the late 1967 production cycle. The record features the historically correct gold Elektra "Big E" labels with the "1855 Broadway" address. This specific variant was pressed at the Abbey Record Manufacturing Co., Inc. plant (AB etching).
💎 CONDITION vinyl: excellent (EX) cover: near mint minus (nm-)(small cut-out) 🧾 NOTES FOR COLLECTORS
-
This copy is a technical "triple threat" for collectors of the 1967 original run. It features the hand-etched "ray" signature of mastering engineer Ray Hagerty, the "NEW" lacquer etching, and the stamped "o" (Customatrix) plating mark. The "AB" and "9-67" markings confirm this as a September 1967 run from the Abbey Record Manufacturing plant. As a first pressing, later run, it retains the sought-after gold label design and the original mono mix, making it a highly desirable variant for serious Doors historians.
