Description
Released in the spring of 1971, LA Woman was The Doors' 6th studio album and the last one Morrison recorded with the band before he left for Paris and we all know what happens later.....or do we?
It is a very strong album and one that would surprise even their harshest critics. It's looser, bluesier, and more bare-bones than anything that preceded it.
The copy I am offering is a rare DJ Promo and a variation of a 1st U.S. pressing of which there were at least three. Aside from an Elektra Records "Not For Sale" sticker to the cover, the Side 1 label has "Radio Station Copy" printed on the left at mid-level. What's unusual is that despite being a legitimate "Promo" pressing, the labels are not white as they are so commonly found. Personally, I've never seen this before.
Cover: VG+ ......Despite the ring wear, this one has held up quite well. Spine is still solid with all the text easily legible...."window" is clean with no tears (for once!) around the borders. Elektra Records "Promotional Copy/Not For Sale" sticker to the top right.
Original Yellow Inner-Sleeve: VG+.....three seam splits (which can easily be repaired) and a small tear to the top opening. Very clean despite these minor flaws. A higher quality inner will be included to house the record.
Record: VG ~ Excellent.....a somewhat difficult record to grade. Actually, only a couple of the songs grade VG due to some light ticks at the very start of the music. However the majority of the audio grades Excellent and even higher on a few of the songs. Nice audio with great definition in the percussion and bass. A difficult pressing to come by in any condition.
