The Doors - Waiting For The Sun (Elektra USA 1st Press Stereo 1968) Gold Label

This is a 1968 USA 1st pressing Stereo LP. It has a heavyweight matte gatefold sleeve. This has the sleeve opening at the centre of the inner gatefold. The rear sleeve has a "1855 Broadway N.Y." printing address. It comes with its original generic company "Elektra" paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has Gold Elektra labels. These have the white "E" logo on them. The labels are lightly grooved also. The record has 1st press EKS 74024A-SON and EKS 74024B-SON  matrix numbers.

This is a genuine USA Stereo 1st pressing with Gold Elektra labels. These are not that common. I think the label design changed not too soon after this LP's release. Gatefold Sleeve: There is some light, mild or more moderate hairline rubbing wear on the bottom edges on some areas. There is light, very mild or very minor hairline rubbing wear on the top edges on a few areas. There is mild or more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some mild, very mild or more moderate hairline rubbing wear along the majority of the front spine edge. The spine text, in the main, is legible. There is some light or very mild fading to the white areas of the inner gatefold. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on the inner gatefold on some areas. There is a small circular sticker on the front sleeve (see photo). This is at the top right corner tip area. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on the front and rear sleeve on some areas. There are no seam splits. There are no import holes punched or saw marks. Overall, a strong Very Good condition

Vinyl: There is a mild 8 cm hairline surface mark on Side 2. There are a couple of light 3 cm hairline surface rub marks on Side 1. These are not that noticeable under a strong light. There is a small 1 cm very mild hairline surface mark at the start of Side 1. Otherwise, there  are some light, mild, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. The original paper inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, a strong Very Good condition. The labels are in Near Excellent condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear only.

The original Elektra company paper inner sleeve is in Good+ condition. One of the top corner tip areas has been cut away (see photo). There is a 11 cm seam split at the centre area of the bottom edge. There is a 5 cm seam split at the centre area of one side edge.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in many places. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There is some intermittent mild crackle at the start of Side 2. It doesn't last very long. This crackle returns for a brief period on track number 3 on Side 2 too. Again, it doesn't last long. Overall, a very reasonable audio copy.
