Waiting for the Sun, released July 3rd, 1968 by Elektra Records was to be that all so difficult third album. On the back of two (1967) ground breaking albums and a year touring the band had little new material. Despite this it became the band's first and only number 1 album, spawning their second US number 1 single, "Hello, I Love You" - it also became the band's first hit album in the UK. Stand out tracks include “The Unknown Soldier” and “Hello, I Love You plus gems which include Spanish Caravan and Love Street

Summary: Original 68 US copy of this Doors classic, A/B AL (Allentown press), complete with original (scarce) brown Elektra inner sleeve. Early US Elektra Tan label, very clean, graded EX, shiny vinyl and clean audio. The US heavy duty gatefold sleeve has age related handling, scuffed edges/spine, ringwear and tape residue.

Sleeve: Heavy duty US gatefold sleeve, no rips or splits. Signs of age-related handing so often the case with American card sleeves, scuffed edges and broken spine, ringwear, couple of Sellotape residue marks (see photos) honestly graded VG-/Good+

Inner sleeve: Original brown (scarce)  Elektra inner sleeve, no writing or grubby handling marks, two small side splits, bottom split (with ageing Sellotape).

Labels: Early US Elektra Tan label, nice and clean, graded EX

Vinyl: Retains its original gloss. Closer inspection under light shows a couple of small scuffs, a few small needle lines and minute sleeve traces none of which affect play in any way - strong VG+ / EX-

Audio: Plays through clean and clear: no skips, jumps, pips, pops or unwanted background crackle (played on a Project carbon - blue 2M Ortofon) graded EX-

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
