Description

L.A. Woman is the sixth studio album by the American rock band. It was released on Elektra Records in April 1971.

It was the last to feature lead singer Jim Morrison in his lifetime, though he would posthumously appear on the 1978 album An American Prayer. “Love Her Madly” was released as a single in March 1971, preceding the album’s release and reached the Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles chart. The album peaked at # 9 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. The track “Riders On The Storm” also achieved chart success. The first press cover had a burgundy-colored, curved-corner cut out jacket framing a clear embossed cellophane insert, glued in from behind. The clear window features a band picture with a bearded Morrison. The inner sleeve depicts Morrison as crucified upon a telephone pole. The cover was quickly banned and censored with subsequent covers deleting the cellphone window and inner sleeve. Nice first state die-cut cover w/ banned insert from ‘71 here.
