Description
The Drive 'Zone 6' South African LP on RCA Victor, 1976 (RCL 1214). Condition: VG+/NM.
Very rare original 1976 SA jazz LP by The Drive, Soweto's premier soul jazz outfit that featured (among others) Chris Schilder, Ronnie Madonsela, Bunny Luthuli, Tony Soali, Nelson Magwaza, Lucky Mbatha, Mavis Maseku and the Sithole Brothers Stanley, Danny & Henry.
This release appears to be unknown and does not appear in any reference to the band or in any other online information.
Features a cool funky jazz track 'Zone No.6' with Rhodes soloing and tight rhythm guitar work, alongside three other tracks which are more musically reminiscent of Hugh Masekela's sound.
Listen to the auction player for a soundclip featuring sections from 'Zone No.6'.
The cover is very good - there is some wear and an 8cm split in the centre of the spine. There is also a small green letter 'C' written on the reverse.
The vinyl is near mint - stunning glossy vinyl with a few light hairline marks that do not affect play.
