Description

The Duals - Stick Shift - LP 2002 - 1961 Vinyl LP
The Duals
Stick Shift
LP 2002

Original 1961 US pressing of The Duals' "Stick Shift" LP on the Sue label. First pressing with original "Cartoon" cover (replaced on later pressings).

Grading:
Sleeve:  G   Heavy shelf-wear, cut corner no splits
Vinyl:  VG-   Sounds great, but has numerous light paper scuffs which causes scattered light background crackles

Notes:
The Duals were a couple of 19-year-old boys from California, Henry Bellinger (lead guitar) and Johnny Lageman (rhythm guitar). The one-hit wonder cracked the Top 40 in 1961 with their Ventures sound-alike hit single "Stick Shift". Featuring sound effects of a swerving car, the record appealed to the growing legions of hot rod racers in early 1960s America. "Stick Shift" was originally recorded and released on the newly-formed Star Revue label in Los Angeles in 1961, however the demand for the record was too great for the small record label to effectively handle. The master tapes were sold to Sue Records in New York City, who re-released the single for national distribution.  It went to #25 on the Billboard singles chart and stayed on the charts for 11 weeks.
