For your consideration today is this rare find. A sealed Tommy Collins album from 1966 and featuring his hit,
If You Can’t Bite, Don’t Growl. The Stereo LP is CS 9310 and is Titled “The Dynamic Tommy Collins”. It was
produced by Don Law and Frank Jones.

Merle Haggard relates a tale about Tommy Collins in interviews and in his song, Leonard, how when times were
tough Tommy Collins brought groceries so Merle could eat. Leonard Sipes is his real name. This guy influenced
a lot of people and was instrumental in creating the Bakersfield sound. He has been compared to Roger Miller
for his writing and singing talents and style. Among his song hits is a tune called If You Ain’t Lovin, Then you Ain’t Livin,
which was a hit for Faron Young and more recently, George Strait. He wrote Merle Haggards “Roots of my Raisin”
and “Carolyn”. His music is timeless.
Craig Morgan’s “I Wish I Could See Bakersfield” was inspired by Tommy Collins.
This album from 1966 has never been open and played. It is in new condition and comes from a collector’s estate.
