Description
Just recently I bought a massive collection of 60's and 70's LPs...some are in surprisingly immaculate condition, and some are not, but the original owner (a well-respected Australian vinyl hoarder) was a fastidious collector of the styles he loved - 60's beat/punk/garage, British invasion well-knowns [Beatles/Hollies/Dave Clark 5/Gerry & The Pacemakers/Zombies/Troggs/Rolling Stones, etc..], 70's West Coast sounds, pop-psych and he'd obviously forraged far and wide since there's a flurry of unique South American, New Zealand,Taiwanese, South African, Japanese releases amongst them all.
Here then, is one of the LPs from his collection:
"FRIENDS"…their fifth full studio LP…Australian pressing…
Original first press with slightly different back cover details to second press: at the bottom below the track listing this has a black 'half-disc' logo, with no mention of Polydor, Phonogram, nor Australia...instead has the word 'STEREO' in thick black lettering, followed by 'CAN ALSO BE PLAYED ON MONO EQUIPMENT'...
After the pictures of this first press LP, I've included a couple of pictures of that section of the second pressing back cover with its red boxed 'half-disc' logo and Polydor wording, preceded by 'Distributed in Australia by Phonogram Recordings Pty Limited' (this auction does NOT include a copy of that second pressing LP). Just for you to compare.

11 tracks, all are originals...
condition: [cover first, then record]: VG++ / EX-...very shiny vinyl!!...cover is laminated front and back and has mild scuffing in the corners...
Labels are mint!...has only ONE spindle mark on Side Two....looks like it hasn't been played much at all....very nice copy!!...
...their last studio album...in the same way that the Masters Apprentices went from a tough garage-punk group to heavy prog/psych, so too did the Easybeats...perhaps not quite as ferocious as the Masters, but the quality of psych cuts like "Friends" and the psych-pop of "I Love Marie" can't be denied...even though it's not been as highly regarded as their Parlophone LPs, the album is full of very high quality stuff.
