The Earwigs -Vinyl insanely Rare 45 RPM vinyl from 1982 -original - never played Mint!
the Earwigs only 45 RPM release sought after vinyl single by collectors - This record is extremely rare -
there was only 250 ever pressed
The Earwigs hailed from Fountain valley in Orange County California- And merged the sound of Punk /Power pop ,Mods & Rockers to create a influential and unique sound - pre- dating bands like The Milkshakes ,also The Stokes,Strypes,Vines & who would come decades later. -
This single was widely heard on KROQ Rodney On the Roq and KNAC Sue Mink show - - (When it played underground punk music & connected with Zed records in Long Beach CA.)
The Earwigs were the very first Punk Greasers and Mods in Huntington Beach /FV /Costa Mesa/Anaheim California - No dispute there..
While other OC bands of the same period were playing Hardcore & Social Distortion were still in their 'Another State of Mind' mode & look - The Earwigs stood out with their Hamburg Beatle/Gene Vincent Clash & Jam vibe and were embraced by those aforementioned hardcore groups whom they played shows with . Those bands admired The Earwigs for their teenage nerve & delinquent pin up rebellion.
The record is not sealed but has NEVER BEEN PLAYED & in Mint Condition & well preserved .
The cover came in 3 different versions but were all from the same first and only pressing.-
they were -The Logo cover , -The Paste over of the band ,front & Back cover & the one i am selling. The Paste over cover with song titles on back .(The rarest which was a combo of both covers)-(See photo))-
The vinyl has no paper inner sleeve -just comes as issued in cardboard sleeve -
The Record was also pressed at the legendary Gold Star Studios which was in Hollywood California - home of Phil Spector,Eddie Cochran,Brian Wilson , & Flamin' groovies to name a few.Recorded at Phantom studios in Garden Grove.The flyer picture & band picture are not included - The Earwigs have become legendary on the late 70s early 80s Punk Scene. Playing pall over Hollywood & The OC at The Cuckoos Nest, Golden bear, The Whiskey a go go, Madame Wongs & Radio City & Holiday Skate & to name a few. They were very influential - An Underground phenomenon remembered for their raucous live shows which built their ongoing cult following circulating in Bootlegs of an unissued album recorded in 81' (hopefully to be re-issued soon)
