CONDITION
  • Vinyl Media: Very Good Plus (VG+). Physical presentation is exceptional, boasting a thick, heavy vinyl weight—almost as dense and weighty in the hand as an old vintage 78 RPM shellac record, despite being a 10" microgroove LP playing at standard 33 ⅓ RPM. Displays a superb glossy shine across both sides with no visible scratches or hairlines. Plays through with minor, soft background crackle in places as is typical for historical state pressings, but it remains unobtrusive and does not distract from playback.
  • Center Labels: Very Good Plus (VG+). Clean original China Record Company labels with sharp text and minimal spindle wear.
  • Sleeve: Very Good Plus (VG+). Original delicate sleeve showing only minor handling and shelfwear around the edges. Fully intact with strong seams and no major tears—an astonishing level of preservation for a mid-1970s Cultural Revolution artifact. Bottom right corner has a slight crease.

ABOUT THIS RELEASE
Pressed in 1974 during the final years of Chairman Mao Zedong's Cultural Revolution, this 10" vinyl compilation (M-982) serves as an essential historical artifact of Chinese political music. Issued by the state-run China Record Company and exported globally via Guozi Shudian, the album gathers the most significant national revolutionary anthems and propaganda pieces of the era.
Unlike standard lightweight pressings of the 1970s, this 10" record is notable for its heavy, robust vinyl composition that feels substantial in the hand, almost echoing the weight of classic early-20th-century 78s while playing at 33 ⅓ RPM. The tracklisting features pivotal historical recordings, including "The East Is Red", "Sailing The Seas Depends On The Helmsman", and "The Internationale", performed by top state ensembles such as the Central Philharmonic Orchestra and the People's Liberation Army Song & Dance Ensemble.
Finding original 1970s Chinese state pressings in complete, undamaged condition is extraordinarily difficult due to the fragile paper jackets used at the time and the turbulent era in which they were distributed. This copy stands as a remarkable survivor of 20th-century geopolitical and musical history.
