Description

THE EVOLUTION OF ROCK (The EOR)

What is being offered here is the only known original MASTER TAPES used to produce the American Version of “THE EVOLUTION OF ROCK” – a 73 hour long documentary of the history of rock ‘n’ roll which aired on radio stations in the late 1970s all across the US and Canada.  This is the only documentary of its type produced entirely in chronological order beginning with Pre-1957 and ending with the year 1980.

Produced originally in 1978 by CHUM Radio in Toronto, Canada and extended for an additional three years through 1980, this is the very best documentary ever made on the history of rock ‘n’ roll.

A YouTube preview of the show can be found with a Google search.   Simply search for “The Evolution of Rock Documentary” and then it will be listed among other videos.  Well worth the view.  This video gives a great insight into the program.

The tapes being offered here were used as MASTERS by the American company TM Studios in the 1970s to produce Long Playing records to be distributed to Radio Stations across the United States who purchased this show for airing.  The show could be aired twice.

No other copies of these tapes are known to exist.

THIS COLLECTION DOES NOT COMPRISE THE ENTIRE SET.  What I am offering here is a partial set of TAPES - 40 IN ALL.  They are on 10.5” reels in the original boxes from TM and labeled as such.  A complete listing of the TAPES included in this offer follows.  Two different types of tape reels were used by TM - 34 plastic and 6 metal.  See Photos.

Because of the nature of audio tape (the fact they can be copied) I will accept NO RETURNS on these tapes.  You are bidding on a piece of Americana history.

NOTE:  This show is not to be confused with another documentary issued by Drake/Chenault entitled “The History of Rock and Roll”.

Also note that the EOR was marketed as “THE HISTORY OF ROCK – THE MUSIC THAT MADE THE WORLD TURN ROUND” in Canada.  But, because of the Drake/Chenault documentary, that name was changed in the Unites States to “The Evolution of Rock” or “THE EOR”.

Please feel free to ask questions.
