Description

An original 1st Philips pressing of TFJC from 1958 - when Cash was still a Philips artist. These early Philips pressings sound great and are not easy to track down these days. Matrix 1/1. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Philips cover which is laminated front and back - per the 1st issue.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition particularly given its considerable age. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks each side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback on Side 1 and then mostly NEAR EXCELLENT on side 2. Intros and inbetwens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Phillips really knew how to press a record.... this copy has bags of warmth and presence... And Cash is on top form. Interference is both minor and infrequent. All we could detect was a bit of light static in a couple of tracks on side 2 [e.g. Guns To Town & Miss Someone etc..]. By and large a decent clean player that will leave any CASH fan begging for more!
Cover (Ex-) A beautiful clean and shiny front cover without creasing - just very lightest impression from the record. The rear has aged a little, but still in truly remarkable condition considering it is 60 years of age. Edge wear is very light and the spine is 100% intact. Given the fact that these early covers are very fragile affairs it is nothing short of a miracle finding an example in this condition.
