Description

I HAVE JUST ACQUIRED A SMALL COLLECTION OF A DOZEN OR SO ROCK N ROLL LP's INCL JOHNNY BURNETTE , JERRY LEE LEWIS , FATS DOMINO , LITTLE RICHARD , THE CHAMPS , THE CHANTAYS AND EDDIE COCHRAN , I WILL BE LISTING ALL OVER THE NEXT WEEK OR SO AND I MUST SAY THIS REALLY IS A VERY NICE COLLECTION .
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS RECORD HAS BEEN VACUUM CLEANED ON BOTH SIDES USING MY PROJECT PRO CLEANING MACHINE THANK YOU .
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL RECORDS , CD's , CASSETTES AND DVD's ARE FULLY PLAY TESTED FROM START TO FINISH INCLUDING ALL SIDES FOR ALL DOUBLE AND TRIPLE ALBUMS AND BOX SETS THANK YOU .
ALL RECORDS ARE FULLY PLAY TESTED ON MY TRUSTY AIWA TURNTABLE AND GOOD QUALITY JVC AMP . THIS DOES ONLY HAVE A STD BASS AND TREBLE CONTROL WHICH I HAVE SET ON A HIGH " TINNY " SETTING . I LIKE TO SET IT LIKE THIS AS IT PICKS UP EVEN THE VERY SLIGHTEST BIT OF NOISE SO I KNOW I CAN DESCRIBE EVERY LP CORRECTLY ETC . I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THAT PLAYED ON BETTER OR TOP QUALITY SYSTEMS WITH GREATER AND MORE TECHNICAL SOUND CONTROL ETC , THESE RECORDS WILL SOUND A LOT BETTER THAN I HAVE DESCRIBED . I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I OFTEN GIVE RECORDS ANOTHER QUICK PLAY ON THE FIRST COUPLE OF TRACKS ON MY PERSONAL TOP QUALITY PIONEER SYSTEM AND I DO FIND THAT MOST OF ANY NOISES LIKE CRACKLE ETC ARE MUCH MUCH QUIETER , SOME EVEN HARDLY SOUND AT ALL . I TEST EVERY RECORD AND FIND THAT MY AIWA WILL COVER MANY OTHER SIMILAR SET UPS THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE , I DID WANT TO JUST POINT THIS OUT , THANK YOU .
Please note that i do tend to use " Very Good Condition " for most of my records , although none are heavily scratched etc and most will just have some general light surface marks only . The only exception to this is if the record does have scratches and lots of marks etc but is very rare and collectable and will be described in great detail . I never use " Mint " or " Near Mint " unless the record is unopened from it's original shrink wrap and is clearly unplayed . Even with these i am wary because if the record has been stored for years in maybe a damp garage or loft etc and has not been opened , then we can only presume it should be mint because we obviously can't actually see the record . Everyone obviously has their own opinions as to what is very good and excellent , but in my case , i tend to think that most , if not all records do have marks to some degree ( lots even from new ! ) purely because they are vinyl and mark easy and have been used over a considerable amount of time in most cases . This is why i use Very Good most of the times . This is also why i do go into great detail with my descriptions , as the term " Very Good " can be a bit vague . I do use " Excellent Condition " sometimes , but in my case , i would class this as not played very much at all , excellent shine and just a handful of the very lightest and small surface hairline marks only , most only being visible under a light , so you know that when i use excellent , i really do mean excellent . Lots of my records as you can see by my feedback are better than described , more better than very good and closer to near ( if not ) excellent and i do pride myself on this fact , this is why i do use mainly " Very Good " but with very detailed descriptions also of which i will say i can go a little OTT with noise and general condition and can often make a record sound bad when it really isn't , i do just try my best to say how it is , but as i say please do check my feedback and you will see you can bid with confidence , thank you .

The Fabulous Little Richard LP Pro Cleaned See Details . On UK London Plum / Silver Print HA-U 2193 . This one has the date coded scalloped flipbacks on the rear cover 9.60 and also has the first published date of 1958 on the labels unlike the later reissues which had the 1963 date on the labels , this one is a more scarce issue in that it has the first published dates on the left hand side of the labels not on the right , two or three other differences with the label print layout and also the song titles on the labels are spread out and not listed directly under each other .
COVER: Laminated ( front and scalloped rear flipbacks only ) cover in a very very very strong between very good and near excellent condition and still overall very nice and clean , this cover really is a very nice example , certainly one of the best i have seen a very long time , a notoriously flimsy thin card cover , but this one really is still in great shape ! .
FRONT: Very nice and clean and still retains a lovely glossy sheen overall . A very few usual but very light and very small surface laminate crease lines in places round the outer edges and just a couple of other small ones , often seen towards the opening edge . A very few very light general surface marks in places , but this really is mainly just some usual but very light and fine hairlines in places , there is one very faint very thin line top to bottom and one smaller one very near to this near the left hand side edge , but this certainly is just within the laminate and is not a scratch or anything like that , both really are extremely light and i doubt most people would have even bothered mentioning them . There are no nasty creases at all , in fact there are just a very few extremely soft dents in places , mainly towards the opening edge , but these really are very light indeed .There are the usual but very light only ringwear marks with just a light impression of the outer edge of the record and just the slightest bit of usual but very light rubbing on the impression , there is just the very very faintest impression of the label section . A really very nice front cover in great shape .
TOP / BOTTOM / LEFT HAND SIDE MAIN EDGES: ( Not Including Corners And Right Next To Corners Please See Corner Description ) . TOP EDGE: No obvious signs of rub wear at all on the laminated part . BOTTOM EDGE: The same . LEFT HAND SIDE EDGE: Normally obviously the spine edge , but these flimsy thin card covers of the time had all of the text printed on the rear and there was no actual spine . This edge is mostly the same as top and bottom main edge descriptions but with just two or three of the lightest , tiniest laminate knicks in places , these being just from the already mentioned laminate crease lines on the main edges , again i doubt most people would have bothered mentioning these and they are extremely light indeed and barely visible .
MAIN SPINE EDGE: N/A .
OPENING EDGES: Notoriously wear prone edges but these really are still overall in very good shape . There is a little very light bit of rippling present and a couple of tiny knicks on the very outside edge of the front approx 1/4 of the way down from the top . There is no heavy fraying at all , mainly just a bit of light and small bits of denting on the outer edges ( mainly on the rear ) and a very few bits of usual general age related light wear in places , i have shown the edges side on in the photos so you can get a good idea of what they are like , but there really is nothing heavy to report .
CORNERS: Still in really great shape with just some usual but very very light and very very small bits of fray / dent wear on the corners , virtually all being confined to the very tip ends . There is one tiny laminate crease line near the tip on the top left corner and one larger one on the flipback on the rear near the bottom left corner .
REAR: Still in really great shape overall , with mainly just some generally light patches of age related light only grubby surface / handling marks in places , but these really are light only and obviously to be expected , i have tried to show the sort of things i mean in the photos , they are mainly on and just near to the opening edge , a very few very very light bits in places near the bottom edge and one very pale spot mark near the right hand side edge close to the bottom , i must say again that none of this is excessive at all and as i say , for it's age and popularity , it really is in lovely condition and overall still retains it's whiteness , with most being just minimal and as i say to be expected , i think , like me , you will be surprised at how clean overall it is . A very few usual but very light and small laminate surface crease lines in places round the outer edges and on the flipbacks and just the one larger one near the bottom left corner as previously mentioned . There are a few very light and very soft dents in places , mainly near the opening edge , but these really are very light only and again to be expected . There are the usual but very light ringwear marks with just a very light impression of the outer edge of the record and a very light bit of rubbing in places on this impression , there are no obvious signs of an impression from the label section . As i say , this cover really is in great shape , a notoriously wear prone thin card cover , but i think this one really is a very nice overall example and certainly has been looked after , certainly up there with the better , generally cleaner examples i have seen in years ! .
INNER SLEEVE: Printed on one side ( pale lilac coloured print ) poly lined inner sleeve in very good condition . A very very few very light and very small general surface / handling marks in places , three very small browning type spot marks and three extremely tiny ( near pin head sized ) dark spot marks on one side , there are some of the slightest bits of age related foxing / very very light browning , mainly round the edges . The usual but generally quite light ringwear marks and just a very few general mainly light creases / dents in places , i say mainly as there are the usual more prominent , larger and harder creases and dents near to the corners caused by the outer edge of the record , more prominent on the bottom corners . Some light only normal useage wear on the top opening edges and a little rub wear etc on the side edges and corners . I can't confirm if this is the original inner sleeve , but it is consistent with the time period and label make .
LABELS: London plum / silver print paper labels generally in near excellent condition . Very nice and clean overall with just some usual spindle marks on both labels . Both labels are writing free .
RECORD: The overall visual grade under normal average household light conditions is still a very very very strong between very good and near excellent on the playing surface , though certainly far far better than very good and i only grade at this condition as there is one very small non sounding light hairline surface scratch line near the run off on S1 and one virtually the same size on the run off itself , i must say that on testing i did not hear any nasty ticks on the one on the playing surface at all , i have shown these in the photos , i still think most people would say airing closer to the near excellent side overall and if not for these two very small hairline surface scratches , i would certainly class it as a very very strong near excellent ( if not airing a little closer to excellent overall ) , bar these there are just a very few usual but very very light and very fine hairline surface marks on both sides and just two or three larger but still extremely light , but very slightly more visible , still very fine hairlines in places , most of the finer hairlines i will say are also only more visible when held at certain angles to or under a light , there are no nasty large deep gouges / nasty large deep scratches etc whatsoever ( bar the two very small hairline scratches as mentioned ) . I will say that there is what appears to be a line which runs round the blank run off just before the actual very end of the run off on both sides , they do appear to be done as part of the manufacturing process and to me appear to be machine done but obviously i can't confirm this in saying this , they can be felt , it passes through the line on both sides with just a brief though audible noise as it passes through it , i must admit i am at a loss to know what this line is . As i don't know what they are and because of the noise , to be sure , all i did in the end on my second testing was to just take the arm off when the record had finished and before it reached the line and again to be sure i would also recommend this action if you are unsure , actually i doubt most people would have even mentioned them , but as you know , i do like to be thorough with all my descriptions , i have shown this in the last photo so you can see exactly what i mean . Obviously this had no affect on the music playback at all as it is just on the run offs .
AUDIO A SIDE: It plays beautifully crisp and clear throughout on the music playback with amazingly hardly any obvious noise worthy of mention , there was no nasty crackle and no nasty loud ticks , in fact all i heard was just a very brief bit of very very light mostly background static type noise on the intro only of T2 ( really very light and brief ) and if i had to be ultra picky , then there was the odd bit of very very very occasional mega mega brief bit of the faintest background only noise in i think , three or four places on T4 , but any of this on this track really was very very faint and really barely heard on my system , again this was really barely worth a mention but i do like to be thorough with all my descriptions . I didn't hear any loud pops , there may have just been the odd couple of odd isolated ultra faint ones in places that i may have missed . Actually a very very great deal of this side does play close to virtually noise free on the music ! . There are obviously some usual and often louder noises heard on the silent run ins/offs and silent track changeover lines , though i must say that virtually all of the silent track changeover lines were very very quiet indeed overall , some again even close to virtually noise free . This side on the music really does play and sound fantastic and the audio tones are still awesome . There were no jumps etc when tested on my deck and it still retains a very nice shine . I really can't stress enough how good this side plays and sounds on the music .
AUDIO B SIDE: Again it plays beautifully crisp and clear throughout on the music playback with reall next to no obvious noise that was worthy of mention , there was no nasty crackle and no loud ticks , in fact all i heard was a very very few ( three or four ) odd isolated ultra light pops in places on T5 , but these really were very very light indeed , i doubt most people would even have bothered mentioning them , they were that light , again there may have been the odd couple of ultra faint isolated pops in places that i may have missed . There are obviously some usual and often louder noises heard on the silent run ins/offs and silent track changeover lines , though i must say that most of the silent track changeover lines again were very quiet indeed overall . This side again on the music really does play and sound fantastic on the music and the audio tones are still awesome . There were no jumps etc when tested on my deck and it still retains a nice shine . Again i really can't stress enough how good this one plays and sounds overall , it must be up there with the better , if not best sounding examples out there today , this one is now getting quite hard to find nowadays in any sort of decent condition , but this one really is a nice copy .
All in all a very nice overall example of this now very collectable item together with superb overall sound , do turn this one up and enjoy ! . Thank you very much for your time and interest and happy bidding . Please do read the following ref record gradings explained thank you .
Very Good / Near Excellent: The record has obviously been played but shows no excessive play wear at all and will still retain a good shine , it displays no major deterioration in sound quality at all , despite some light only surface marks , with most being just hairlines , but there are no nasty deep scratches etc . Some very light noise and occasional usual light pop may sometimes be present on some quieter parts and would be acceptable . Please see the descriptions above for the cover condition .
Please note that whilst I haven’t increased my postage charges for quite a while now , this now other recent price increase , has seen me unfortunately have to put a slight increase on my postage charges . This is also topped with the rise in cost for quality card mailers , jiffy bags , stiffeners , other packaging materials etc , Ebays 10% extra fee for seller postage costs plus their other fees and Paypal now charging 20p per item sold on Ebay plus their other fees . Please also note that I now send ALL non GF LP’s / 12" singles with a minimum of 3 stiffeners and all 7" singles with a minimum of 2 stiffeners ( more if i think they are needed ) , i never and don't agree with making money from postage and with all the added fees / extra stiffeners etc , most of my records including LP's sell for between £2 and £6 so all of this whilst not sounding a lot , does soon mount up and i actually do lose money on posting records , but I do obviously want to still remain competitive and still offer my usual top quality service , sorry again for this , thank you .
