Original vinyl copy of the legendary 1973, privately pressed LP of Cambridge-based folk and progressive rock acts. Recorded by Spaceward Studios of Cambridge on their own label it features early recording of several young artists who went on to have very successful musical careers. The fragile sleeve is a cardboard wraparound and the plain white cardboard inner sleeve is also original (vinyl contained within another plain paper inner).
This album has become highly sort after by those interested in artists emerging from the seventies Cambridge music scene.
Cambridge based Spaceward Studios was originally located in college rooms (1972 - 1975) before moving to a terrace house and subsequently (July 1975) to a basement in Victoria Street, where they recorded a vast array of artists from the mid '70's through to the late '80's (including Albion Band, Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin, Gary Numan, Iron Maiden, Scritti Politti, Stiff Little Fingers and The Stranglers).
The groups / artists that feature on this LP are as follows: PUZZLE - PUBLIC FOOT THE ROMAN - SIMON BOSWELL - THE JUNCTION BAND - GIGYMEN PUZZLE feature a young Kimberley Rew who went on to cult hero status alongside Robyn Hitchcock with the Soft Boys and international fame with Katrina and the waves, writing the classic 'Walking on Sunshine' and winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1997 with another Rew composed song 'Love Shine A Light'. SIMON BOSWELL went on to release his own solo album, 'The Mind Parasites', before forming the band 'Advertising' in 1977, at the beginning of punk rock era, who toured extensively with Blondie. After the split of 'Advertising' Simon became a BAFTA nominated TV and film composer. PUBLIC FOOT THE ROMAN went on to release a well-received, self-titled album in 1973. The band later morphed into The Movies who achieved some success and appeared on The Old Grey Whistle Test before Punk transformed the musical climate.
