The Gentrys formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1963 as a seven-man band. Their debut album Keep On Dancing just made the Top 100 and the title cut climbed to No 4. This was their only big hit, but they enjoyed several other minor ones.

They disbanded in 1966, but original member Jimmy Hart reformed the band in 1969 for the album on Sun, which also generated three further Top 100 hits. The album is good hard turn-of-the-decade rock that is worth a listen if you're into that particular bag. Hart was now the lead singer.

Jimmy Hart is currently a wrestling manager known as the Mouth Of The South.
