Description

“The way that excitement is gradually built up prior to a recording date, and how it mounts in intensity after a successful date is probably something not too often thought about by the jazz buying public. Actually it is quite an interesting process and we find it particularly so when we are approached by a leader of a new group or musician. We mean new in the sense that they have yet to record. Perhaps it starts with a phone call from the leader to the A&R man and the embryo takes form.

When Gigi brought this quartet to our attention it was obvious that he was tremendously enthusiastic and excited about the group”. - Notes by: Ron Eyre recording: Rudy Van Gelder
