Description

The Hobbit is a 1977 animated musical television special created by Rankin/Bass, a studio known for their holiday specials, and animated by Topcraft, a precursor to Studio Ghibli, using lyrics adapted from the book. The film is an adaptation of the 1937 book of the same name by J. R. R. Tolkien and was first broadcast on NBC in the United States on Sunday, November 27, 1977. This original Motion Picture Film Soundtrack is the original "Special Edition" classic film adaptation music and songs triple (3) lp deluxe box set from 1977 with original 16-page color illustrated book insert. All three (3) records look to be in very good condition.; box cover shows some edge wear. Booklet is in excellet condition. Rare to find the iron on transfers. The regular release only had two lp's; this "special edition" was only available through select retail outlets at the time and includes the scarce third lp of songs from the cartoon. Features Orson Bean, Richard Boone, Hans Conreid, John Huston, Otto Preminger and Cyril Richard. Box set with booklet, 3 RECORDS AND iron-on shirt transfers.  Record sleeves show some age yellowing.  I think it was played three times and then stored.
