Description
Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince was adapted for radio by Orson Welles in 1944, featuring a musical score by Bernard Herrmann. It was aired on CBS' Orson Welles Show on December 22.
In 1944 it was rerecorded for the Philco Hall of Fame Christmas broadcast on December 24. This time featuring Bing Crosby along side Orson Welles, with Herrmann's music conducted by Victor Young. This version was released on a 78 rpm album (Decca DA-420) in 1946 and later rereleased in various vinyl versions.
This is the 1946 original release. Both records are in perfect condition and play great. No chips. Book is in decent condition for its age and there is a picture on the inside cover of Orson Welles, Bing Crosby and Victor Young during its recording. Seems to be quite rare to find the actual records intact from the small amount of research I did. Questions welcome!
