  • Kommentar: von rateyourmusic:
Upon my first listen to this album (in 1968), I immediately thought they were a Canadian "Yardbirds". I had heard the single version of "1-2-5" (different from the LP, incidentally) earlier and knew these guys were worth checking out. They absolutely ARE a garage band, and tried very hard to be as diverse as they could on this album. Present are elements of punk (1-2-5), garage/psych (Horror Show), soft ballads (Untie Me), Blues rock (Montreal Blues), beat (Twist), pop (Out of Time), garage/folk (Message to Pretty), and R&B (Shake). Add to this selection a playing style using liberal amounts of fuzz guitar and harmonica, not to mention the punk flavored vocals (in English), and the Yardbirds comparison is inevitable. For a first album- by a garage band- from Canada- in 1967, I think this LP is remarkable!
