Description
You are viewing the following listing:
Artist: The Human League
Title: Dare
Format: 12” album in gatefold sleeve, and printed inner bag, black vinyl
Release year: 1981
Release label: Virgin
Release number: V2192
Item: fully signed EU pressing of the classic 1981 album ‘Dare’! All six members of the band have signed in various shades of blue ‘biro’-type pen. Phil Oakey & Jo Challis have signed on the front cover, Susanne Sulley has signed on the inner left hand internal gatefold panel, Joanne Catherall has signed on the right-hand internal gatefold panel, leaving Philip Adrian Wright (signing ‘Adrian Wright’) & Ian Burden to sign on the rear panel.
Condition: this is this an album that sold over 900k units in the UK alone, and therefore is very easy to pick up cheaply. (As an aside the vinyl is untested by me but looks extremely clean and has A3 / B6 matrix numbers). I am focussing on the condition of the outer gatefold cover and signatures as the actual areas of intrinsic value. Conditions are noted as follows:
Overall gatefold cover: I grade this at excellent minus (-) condition due to moderate age yellowing to the semi-gloss surface, and minor creasing only. A very good copy that has had minor handling. Signatures are graded on the following basis:
· Phil Oakey: 6/10, as minor fading and loss of ink
· Jo Callis: 8/10 large and minor fading
· Susanne Sulley: 8.5/10 really strong signature in mid-blue ink
· Joanne Catherall: 8/10 large signature within minimal ink loss
· Philip Adrian Wright: 6/10, with minor smudging and ink loss
· Ian Burden: 7/10 with minor ink loss
