The Ivy League Tossing & Turning LP Cameo C-2000 Mono

 Released by Cameo (C-2000) in 1965. This is a US press and is a mono copy. Terribly hard to find British Invasion era rock. This was their debut album and the only album released with the original line up. I read a really good description of this album as a cross between The Hollies and The Beatles which is a pretty honest description of the band for those not familiar with their hits or the rest of the songs on the album. The cuts range from rockin' stompers to pleasant pop. The last track on the album was very pleasing with its fast, aggressive pace and loud, heavily distorted harmonica. Contains their singles/hits "What More Do You Want", "Funny How Love Can Be", "That's Why I'm Crying", & "Tossing & Turning".

The Ivy League originally consisted of members John Carter and Ken Lewis (previous members of Carter-Lewis and the Southerners); plus Perry Ford. All three were session singers who possessed vocal ranges that extended to falsetto. They were first heard doing background vocals for The Who on their hit single "I Can't Explain" in November 1964 but after that the Who's producer's entrusted Entwistle & Townshend with the backing vocals.

Jacket is a solid VG+. Close to VG++ but there is just a smidge too much shelf wear to give it that grade. Light shelf wear on front and back. Corners and spine are in excellent shape. No seam splits. Not a cut out. Overall this cover is in fantastic shape.

Vinyl is a very respectable VG+. Again, close to a VG++ but the softer tracks exhibit very light background noise that is not distracting at all, but is noticeable at the softest interludes. Album was 100% play tested and sounded great overall. No skips or jumps on my turntable. Did not hear any clicks/ticks from tiny scratches. I'm sure I heard a pop or two somewhere during the play of the album but nothing big enough for me to make not of on the pad of paper I keep close to me when play testing to make specific notes for the listing. Overall a really great player. I doubt the next owner will be displeased. If I wasn't so broke I'd keep this for my collection as I quite enjoyed the album.

We sell solid records and try not to over grade but opinions do differ and we've found our opinion mainly only differs with those that are absolute fanatics about condition who probably shouldn't be buying used vinyl records online in the first place due to the fact that the record is site unseen.
