The Jam “The Gift” Polydor POLD 5055 UK 1st press
Vinyl LP, complete with gimmick paper bag. The LP is housed in a printed inner sleeve, and was released in 1982. The vinyl appears to have been lightly played and is in great shape. It played through beautifully on my elderly stereo - no hop, stick or jump. The paper bag wrapper shows obvious signs of wear but is still here! No writing. The sleeve is in good condition - no rips or writing. The spine is intact and completely legible. “The Gift” is the Jam’s sixth and final studio album. It was originally released on March 12th 1982 by Polydor as the follow-up to the Jam’s critically and commercially successful “Sound Affects”.
The songs were originally recorded during 1981 and 1982, assisted by Peter Wilson, and the LP is generally regarded as the culmination of the smoother, more adult-orientated sound of the band’s later work.
It was one of the Jam’s most successful studio albums, reaching No 1 in the UK Album Chart. After the LP’s release, the Jam disbanded.
Initial copies of the LP came with a paper bag stating “The Jam...A Gift”.
“The Gift” spent 25 weeks in the UK Album Charts, reaching No. 1. In the USA, the album spent 16 weeks on the Billboard 200 Album Chart, reaching its peak position of No. 82 in May 1982.
