Here is a very rare chance to get your hands on an extremely embarrassing episode in The Jam's career, they recorded the song " Start" in England but the pressing was done in the company's pressing plant in France, at the same time as The Jam, the village people were also signed to the same label and somehow during the pressing process the village people's " you can't stop the music" was pressed onto the A side of the Jam's " Start", the mistake was noticed but not until a few batches were sent out, these were recalled but some of the singles had already been sold, obviously some were returned to the record shops once the poor unsuspecting punter had donned his mod gear and found himself dancing in his bedroom to the Village People, some were kept by a record shop owner in Washington ( Tyne and Wear) and I have this copy.
