Original very early US Stereo pressing factory sealed copy of The Jimi Hendrix Experience’ 2nd studio album “Axis: Bold as Love” released by Reprise Records on December 1st, 1967. This copy comes from a Jimi Hendrix collection, along with the other Jimi Hendrix Experience items currently listed at our auction, and includes an incredibly rare “Newport 69 at Devonshire Downs” 32-page festival program in a sealed “new old stock” condition. The album is in pristine Mint factory sealed condition with the sharp corners and the fully intact shrink wrap, which doesn’t have any splits, tears or missing pieces, having two breathe holes, one on each side of the album. We truly hope that this copy is a very early pressing with the tri-color “steamboat” Reprise labels but unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that 100%, even after taking into consideration a large vintage “Special Purchase Sale!” sticker affixed to the top-left corner of the front cover. If you asked us to share our feeling, then we would tell you that when holding the copy in your hands you don’t have any doubts that it’s from the 60s. Original program acquired during June 20~22, 1967 at the “Newport 69” festival which was attended by approximately 200,000 fans. The 1969 festival held in the Los Angeles area is considered to be more famous than its predecessor, Newport Pop Festival of 1968, mostly due to the appearance of Jimi Hendrix who was paid an unheard-of amount of money at that time of $100,000 for his performance. It’s impossible to find this 32-page 12” x 12” festival program in a sealed condition with the baggy still having an intact perforation running along the top edge.
