Original very early 1st US Reprise Records 2LP pressing of The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s 3rd and final studio album released by Reprise Records on October 16, 1968. “Electric Ladyland” became the band’s most commercially successful album reaching Number 1 in the US charts. 1st print gatefold cover remains in the original factory shrink wrap. Original 1st print orange / yellow 2.75” pressing ring Warner 7Arts / Reprise two-tone “steamboat” logo labels with the “2RS 6307” catalog number. Auto-coupled side label variation with the first LP combining the A & D Sides and the second record containing Side B & C. This copy is one of the earliest pressing copies we’ve seen having the very early -1A / -1A / -1D / -1B matrix numbers with the runout grooves also containing the “T” symbol identifying the pressing by the Columbia Records, Terre Haute, IN plant. The full 1st matrix numbers are as follows: Side A: o  T  30799 2RS 6307A-1A I D3; Side B: o  T  30800 2RS 6307B-1A I A5; Side C: o  T  30801 2RS 6307C-1D I D; Side D: T  o  30802 2RS 6307D-1B I D1. The album comes with 2 original anniversary Reprise Records “Commemorating Ten Years of the Best Entertainment on Record” inner sleeves. Included in the listing is the original and never reissued new old stock sealed 1969 “Jimi Hendrix Electric Church A Visual Experience” 12” x 12” 24-page illustrated cardboard concert tour booklet. “Electric Church” was a term used by Jimi Hendrix to represent an informal cooperative of musicians performing more exploratory music in nontraditional settings. This is represented by various Hendrix jam sessions including the additional musicians with whom he recorded the “Electric Ladyland” album.

The beautiful gatefold cover remaining in the original factory shrink wrap is in Near Mint Minus condition. I grade the vinyl as:

Side A - Excellent Plus
Side D - Very Good Plus
Side B - Very Good Plus
Side C - Excellent Plus

The vinyl retains its glossy factory lacquer only having a few very light non-feelable surface hairlines as well as scuffs from the original inner sleeves, which are in Near Mint Minus condition and don't have any splits or tears. The super clean labels are in Near Mint Minus condition only having a few very light spindle marks that can only be seen under a strong light. The vinyl sounds great with only some very light occasional static. Track 1 of Side A has a couple of very light pops, which probably will disappear if you change the balance of your tonearm. Most likely, the static also could get reduced or go away if the record was professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. The original "new old stock" sealed festival convert tour book is in pristine vintage condition.
