Description
On offer a lovely copy of arguably the Kinks finest hour (well forty odd minutes anyway), 'The Village Green Preservation Society', a Mono first press from 1968. A notoriously tough album to find in nice shape, especially finding the 'Beatles For Sale' style sleeve in anything like decent condition.
This example is a super copy, with no tears or writing anywhere, so here goes......
FRONT COVER - The flimsy front flap is very nice, the open end corners which are usually bent or scuffed are superb - sharp, square and no rubbing, almost factory fresh! Top L/H corner again is nice and square, the botton one has had a light bump. An inch up from the bottom right corner there is a laminate crease and laminate bubbling, and about 2 inches up from this there is another light crease and small area of laminate bubbling. There are a few minor spine side creases which do not go onto the spine itself, and the wording on the spine is perfect.Towards the open end flap there are 2 light thumbnail creases.
BACK COVER - Nice corners, a small crease below the top L/H one, on the bottom L/H quarter there is a crease which roughly follows the 'ring' of the record, and the same but less so above in the top L/H quarter. There is some minor laminate lift towards the spine in 4 places. Inside the wraprounds are great - sleeve overall a nice EX.
VINYL - Housed in its proper period Pye inner with sellophane lining. The record is lovely, great clear undistorted mono sound, a joy to play! Obviously the few occasions its been used in its life its been played on excellent equipment with good stylus'. Across the last 2 tracks on side 2 there is an inaudible hairline, and though many would go for NM I'll grade this as a very clean and glossy EX+. There are spindle marks on both sides, less so on side 1.
All in all a splendid copy of the best Kinks album, not many around better than this.
LP will be sent outside of sleeve and in a PVC LP cover (besides cardboard, wrapping paper and stuff of course)
Overseas welcome.
