Description
ARTIST: The Kingsmen
TITLES: Searchin' / Little Sally Tease
HEAR A SHORT SAMPLE OF BOTH SIDES OF THE RECORD HERE:
LABEL: Jerden Records / Wand Records
CONDITION: This 8" acetate lacquer is in VG+ condition
ADDITIONAL INFO: This is a ONE OF A KIND test pressing acetate of this pairing of songs cut for Jerden Records. This acetate was originally purchased at the estate sale of a relative of Jerry Dennon's (the owner of Jerden Records). The disc states RE-MIX #2 on both sides leading me to believe that Jerden had done several mixes of each side and created acetates to hear how they sounded on a record player. Of course, the only Kingsmen record to come out on Jerden was Louie Louie, but the group recorded a large amount of songs for Jerden which were all purchased by Wand when Wand bought out the Kingsmen's recording contract. Therefore it's extremely rare to see the Kingsmen on a Jerden acetate, and it's even rarer since neither of these tunes was ever issued by Jerden! Little Sally Tease was issued on a Wand 45 but they likely did their own mono mix of the song and would not have issued the version found on this disc. Wand also issued Searchin' on an LP only, never a 45, so that makes that side rare to see it on a 45 acetate, and they also likely did their own mono mix for the mono pressing of that album as well, leaving the two sides of this disc with mono mixes that are unique to this acetate.
I am only selling this item because hours at my job have been cut back and bills are starting to pile up and I'm having to sell some gems from my collection to get myself caught up. My loss will be someone's major gain as this is a very rare and unique recording and disc when it comes to the history of Northwest music!
Due to the extreme rarity of this recording, I have placed a moderate reserve on this auction. Payment MUST be made within 72 hours of auction end. I will not sell this item off ebay so please do not ask. If the reserve price is not met, I will not sell it privately. If you want it, bid on it.
