TITLE: Are The Village Green Preservation Society

 

Original 1968 US stereo pressing, on Reprise label, Cat. No.: RS 6327.

 

Very rare all time classic Kinks concept album, signed by drummer, Mick Avory!!!  This autograph was acquired by the seller at a Kinks Konvention in 1993.  This was the last album to feature the original Kinks lineup.  A total contrast to everything else flower power and psychedelia that was going on at the time – this was Ray Davies at the absolute zenith of his creative powers!!   It seems incredible now that this album failed to chart and quickly disappeared into obscurity.  However, the album has matured like a fine wine over the years and is now regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time!  Presented in a gatefold sleeve.

Record played for grading.  Some slight background noise in places and a couple of clicks here and there, but all in all plays exceptionally well.  Vinyl rating: VG+.

Sleeve has an area of wear in the centre of the front face; rubbing at the corners; slight wear and three pinhole splits in the spine, but with writing clearly legible; considerable wear and significant splitting along top edge; slight wearing along the bottom edge; some marking to the rear face, which also features Mick Avory’s signature.  The gatefold centre is in very good condition.  It does need to be borne in mind that the material of the outer cover is very prone to wear and tear and that this item is over 40 years old, and despite the listed flaws, this remains a beautiful collector’s item.  The paper / polythene inner sleeve is creased in one corner; completely detached along one join and partially so along the other.  Sleeve rating: G.
