The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society
SWEDISH VINYL RELEASE
This auction is for a copy of the remastered stereo Swedish release of The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society. Released in late 1968, Village Green was a modest seller, but it was lauded by contemporary critics for its songwriting and has subsequently been regarded by commentators as an early concept album. It features in many All-Time Top Album lists, including the The Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and ranks #28 in their 2022 50 Greatest Concept Albums of All Time list.
In the United Kingdom, Pye planned to release Village Green in September 1968, and Ray Davies began press interviews in mid-August to promote its release, the band performed some of its songs for BBC Radio in July and Pye placed advertisements in several British pop magazines. However, following Ray's last-minute request that its release be postponed, only test-pressings of the twelve-track edition were made in the UK. Because Pye had already made and sent production masters to several other countries, release of this twelve-track LP went ahead in Sweden in November 1968. Originally released in an expensive box set, this is your chance to grab this wonderful record without the hefty price tag.

Please note I will do my best to grade the condition of these records, but I am not a professional grader. If anything, the gradings will be conservative. All LPs will be test played but only major defects will be reported.
