Description
Genuinely very, very rare, but sadly very tatty record! This is the 1st press of Ray Davies' & The Kinks concept album from '69 "Arthur .. Or the decline and fall of the British Empire". The narrative of which is about a pommie emigrating to Australia. This heavily taped original (cat. No. NSPL18137 PYE Label) still has all of the inserts in tact and has all of the embossed markings that came with the original. So in short (or long) - you have the original gatefold design. You have the pull out inlay lyrics sheet / pythoneque caricature of Queen Victoria (which you can probably figure from the photos, inserts in to the Kangaroos pouch... Together with the record itself. You get the ink stamp and raised embossed stamp from The Library of Aardvark Archives (see reverse cover and inlay lyrics sheet respectively). And last but not least- despite the very tatty state of the jacket itself, you get a surprisingly good condition album, that plays through well.
So all in all a highly collectable item. It just needs careful handling as its already seen better days.
I'm moving house shortly and reluctantly having to sell my much loved record collection as I'll no longer have space to store them all. I will be selling thousands of titles over the course of the next yr. and there will be some serious bargains to be picked up at the prices I'm listing them for. Good luck!
I offer postage discounts on purchases of more than one record.
KEEP THEM PEELED – I WON’T BE HITTING THIS STOCK FOR SEVERAL MONTHS YET, BUT WHEN I GET TO THE TAIL END OF MY COLLECTION (AND IF YOU’RE SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T MIND A LABEL ON THE ALBUM JACKET PROVIDED THE VINYL PLAYS THROUGH FINE) THERE WILL BE SOME GREAT TITLES GOING AT £1.00 - £1.50 A GO.
THESE ARE EX DJ STOCK AND HAVE IRREMOVABLE HEREWARD RADIO LABELS ON THE COVERS AND/OR BEEN CLIPPED IN THE CORNER . MANY HAVE BARELY BEEN PLAYED. I WILL PHOTOGRAPH ALL OF THESE ITEMS, SO WHEN THE AUCTIONS TAKE PLACE, YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THEIR CONDITION & FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE SHOULD THIS OFFER TEMPT YOU!
I KNOW THIS OPPORTUNITY WON’T APPEAL TO ALL - & CERTAINLY NOT TO THE INVESTORS AMONG YOU – BUT IF IT’S SOUND QUALITY ONLY YOU ARE AFTER AND YOU DON’T MIND THE JACKETS BEING SUB-STANDARD, THIS REALLY IS A GREAT CHANCE TO EXPAND YOUR COLLECTION, PICKING UP SOME UNUSUALLY CHEAP CLASSIC ALBUMS, MANY OF WHICH WOULDN’T RECOGNISE A STYLUS IF IT SLAPPED THEM IN THE FACE!
THESE WILL BE PARTICULARLY GOOD IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO BUY SEVERAL ALBUMS – AND TO GET THE BENEFIT OF POSTAGE DISCOUNTS. ALTERNATIVELY I AM HAPPY TO DO THEM ON A COLLECTION BASIS. AND IF SOMEONE WANTS A JOB LOT OF DOZENS / OR EVEN HUNDREDS IN ONE GO, I AM HAPPY TO ARRANGE A VIEWING TOO!
