Description
The Kinks Lola vs Powerman and The Moneygoround Pt 1, LP bought c 1975, EX/VG. The vinyl is in great shape and sounds amazing. The cover is a bit tatty on a couple corners, but is otherwise solid, with a near perfect spine. I don't remember if the cover was ever white (I bought it new 45+ years ago) but in any event, it looks more like eggshell now. A dash of dingyness in keeping with the [main] theme which is the sleeziness of the music industry. The inner sleeve contains adverts for other Warner/Reprise artists and those amazing, cheap samplers they'd mail you for a buck or 2. None of the advertized sampler songs dates from later than 1970, so perhaps this is an "original" inner sleeve. In any event, it's split along bottom but is otherwise intact.
The songs are incredibly good. Lola was a big hit and live staple, Apeman got some airplay in its day but everything else works too. No less than 3 of these were used prominently in The Darjeeling Limited movie soundtrack. Picking a favorite Kinks album is a tough chore, but in my estimation this is their best fucking album, if not their hardest rocking. Why sell? Will still have in 2 other formats.
