Description
Offered here is an original 1970 UK first pressing Mono double LP set of The Kinks (The Black Album), released on Pye Records (NPL 18326).
Compiled in 1970 and cut in pure un-channeled MONO, this 25-track anthology stands as one of the finest career retrospectives of Ray Davies, Dave Davies, Pete Quaife, and Mick Avory's classic 1960s lineup. Spanning raw British Beat R&B classics (You Really Got Me, All Day And All Of The Night) through sharp social satires (A Well Respected Man, Sunny Afternoon, Dedicated Follower Of Fashion) to pastoral pop masterpieces (Waterloo Sunset, Autumn Almanac, Days).
This genuine UK first issue features original -1 / -1 / -1 / -2 machine-stamped matrices cut at Pye Studios. Housed in its original gatefold picture sleeve.
