Very scarce NZ pressing VGPS...different tracklist to subsequent pressings. A couple of things said about this LP from others.
This is the first version of VGPS that was scheduled for release in September 1968. Though it was withdrawn in the UK by Ray Davies, the release went ahead in Scandinavia, France, Italy and New Zealand. It includes two songs not on the final version ("Mr. Songbird" and the prior single "Days")
The original LP is hard to get as probably only a few thousand copies were pressed worldwide.
Here is a copy of The Kinks "The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society" as released in New Zealand on PYE #NSPL 18233. This is the rarest 12-track version of the LP next to the UK test press.
Rated number five in the top ten most collectable New Zealand releases in the Moonhop Records list, this New Zealand-only version of The Kinks' classic album has the original track listing of the withdrawn UK version and the unique cover.
No names or labels on the sleeve, and the record is really clean. Stereo. Pye NSPL 18233.
The cover is in VG+ condition, spine has a wee bit of wear but all the lettering is easily legible. Small splits top and bottom of cover see photo you can just see areas of wear.
The Vinyl is Ex one small scuff on side two, doesn' t impact play....... plays incredibly clear, hardly any surface noise. A real Gem.
Please feel free to ask questions, this has got to be a rarity.
The 4 pound postage is for NZ only
