Description
I am selling some duplicate LPs from my collection, so please check my other auctions for items that may be of interest to you.
IN THIS AUCTION:
· “IF YOU CAN BELIEVE YOUR EYES AND EARS” by The Mamas and the Papas
· This LP is Dunhill Records DS-50006.
· It is a STEREO LP
· This LP was issued in 1966.
· The LP in this auction is the RARE ORIGINAL COVER (known as “THE TOILET COVER”) that has the toilet completely visible at lower right of the front cover slick.
· The image of the dirty toilet was found to be objectionable by record company execs, so production of this cover was immediately discontinued. It was replaced by several generations of modifications to the cover. A SCROLL listing key cuts on the LP was added to COVER UP the dirty toilet on the first subsequent pressings. After that, a further subsequent pressing of the cover slick had a black border added that eliminated the dirty toilet altogether and even eliminated the bathtub, as those same record company execs or the public objected to having guys and gals in a bathtub together (even when still clothed!).
· The COVER is in STRONG VG CONDITION to WEAK VG+ CONDITION with light to moderate overall wear. There is some light cracking on the spine and a small ¾ inch split there. There are a couple of bald corners and wear on the other two corners. There is a small push at the bottom left corner. There is wear on the top and bottom edges. There is a minor bit of wear at the bottom of the front cover and rear cover images. This sounds like a lot of flaws but CHECK OUT THE IMAGES! The cover looks VERY NICE!
· The VINYL is in VG to Weak VG+ CONDITION with some hairlines and scuffs.
· This is a 1960s LANDMARK LP! It contained 2 of the Mamas & the Papas GREATEST TUNES: MONDAY, MONDAY and CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’
· This is a GREAT HARD-TO-FIND LP with its ORIGINAL CENSORED COVER. It’s a “Must Have” for any vintage vinyl collection.
· It’s definitely SUITABLE FOR FRAMING!!!
FYI: I use Goldmine Grading Standards (G for Good, VG for Very Good, VG+ for Very Good Plus, NM for Near Mint, M for Mint) to VISUALLY grade the LPs and 45s I auction, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding.
