Description
Original 1968 UK first issue of The Mirettes' 'In The Midnight Hour' LP on MCA Records catalogue number MUP344. First press - Mono issue, orange labels. Excellent condition. This is part of a huge collection of late 60's & 70's soul, funk, jazz funk, dance & northern LPs that we recently purchased. This is not the usual stuff put together by a late collector, but a genuine original collection that we got from a black guy from Lewisham. He was a genuine fan who bought these on or just after their release in the local record stores and as a collection they're like a soundtrack to the South London scene from the time. Finding these was a real thrill, and not just because there's some really rare & valuable stuff here - it's always a buzz to get a genuine collection from an original fan - like a little slice of music history don't you think? There are over 300 in total and we will be listing them all over the next few weeks. For full track listings please see photos - we've managed to scan full listing from back or inside cover for most of these. Condition of these is generally great. They were bought to play and looked after accordingly. We won't use 'mint' for any of them - altough they've been looked after, I would imagine they have all been played at least a few times. We'll be able to grade most as 'Excellent' - played but not damaged in any way. Where we use 'Very Good' this doesn't mean that they're trashed - just that they're worn enough to lose some sound quality. I think he may have bought a few of these second-hand, but was obviously pretty fussy and the few that were badly damaged I've thrown away.
