M - MINT - Almost perfect, like new. No scuffs or scratches, blotches or stains, labels or writing, no splits. Mint should appear to be near to perfect.

NM - NEAR MINT - Otherwise mint but has 1 or 2 tiny inconsequential flaws that do not affect play. Cover should be close to mint with minor signs of wear or age just becoming evident: slight ring-wear, minor denting to a corner or writing on the cover should all be noted properly.

VG+ - VERY GOOD PLUS - The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully. On the vinyl there may be light paper scuffs from sliding in and out. The slight scratch that did not affect play would be acceptable for most collectors. Album cover has some very minor corner, seam and shelf wear.

VG - VERY GOOD - Record displays visible signs of handling and playing, such as loss of vinyl luster, light surface scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. Some audible surface noise but should not overwhelm musical experience. Usually a cover is Very Good when one or two of these problems are evident: ring wear, seam splits, bent corners, loss of gloss, some stains Album covers are still bright and sharp with some corner and shelf wear more evident.

G - GOOD - Well played with little luster and significant surface noise. Despite defects, record should still play all the way trough without skipping. Several cover flaws will be apparent but should not obliterate the art-work.

P - POOR - Any record or cover that does not qualify for the above G grading should be seen as Poor. Several cover flaws.

Please note I am not an expert and that grading is somewhat subjective, but these guidelines help standardize the process. I grade records as best I can the best of my ability.  Thanks!
