The New Order, Power, Corruption & Lies, 1983 ~ Rough Trade FACTUS 12 / FACTUS 12 C, 12” 33-RPM Vinyl LP

For auction is the album Power, Corruption & Lies by the New Order. This 1983 issue is a 12” 33⅓-RPM LP release. My guess is that I bought the album blindly, without knowing a thing about it or the band. Further conjecture is that I played it once, and then filed it away for a possible second chance which never occurred. I don’t know where I bought this record, or for how much, but does that matter thirty-nine years later?

This is the second time I’ve sold this album. The first time it was returned due to hiss and skips. Doing some research, I found that cleaning the album with soap and water can do wonders. After that, I cleaned the album with disc washing fluid. I’ve since listened to it twice and have found that, eureka, washing the record works! I also found out that the “artists” who put out this album are in fact a disco band, with their disco hits. If you like the golden days of disco, this is your album.

Pre-owned by myself and no one else, I see only minor mars on one side of the record. They didn’t affect the sound. In fact, playing the record two times, I found the sound to be very good. With absolutely no spindle wear, the edge has the knife-sharpness I look for.  I grade the condition of this record Very Good+ (VG+).

How about the record cover? A fairly thick plastic protective wrap has protected the album cover well over the years. In fact, I see no faults and grade the record cover Near Mint (NM). Edges and corners are perfect, no cuts, no scrapes, no wear.

As for the inner sleeve, it is not often I have come through two of them inside a record cover, but that is the case (Sorry) this time. The outer sleeve is cardboard, and mostly black but is in excellent condition. Inside that is a plain, white inner sleeve. Plain as day, it is nevertheless in Near Mint (NM) condition.
