Description
The New Wave In Jazz - a live recording made at the Village Gate March 1965 & featuring a dream line up of artists including John Coltrane, Archie Shepp, Bobby Hutcherson, Albert Ayler, Elvin Jones, McCoy Tyner and more.
This is a 1st press stereo version released in 1965 on the Impulse 4 pillar label - VAN GELDER is stamped in the run out grooves ( see photos).
Degritter cleaned, the vinyl is spotlessly clean with excellent lustre retained. No real marks, tiny scuffs and paper marks only. Clean labels and spindle holes - graded EX.
Playback reveals a vibrant, in-the-room sound with superb instrument separation, depth and dynamics typical of Impulse pressings. The vinyl plays through as it should with no jumping or sticking.
The laminated gatefold sleeve is really solid with good print colours retained. Lovely clear readable spine. Laminate peel just starting to the top LH corner and light corner rubbing. A small area of shelfwear to the top seam. No writing, stains, tears or tape.
The original printed Impulse inner sleeve is included promoting albums of the day. We have decanted the record into a new poly lined inner to preserve it after cleaning - you will receive both.
A rare album to find in such excellent condition.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to avoid transit splits.
We have taken lots of photos in good natural daylight so you can see exactly what you are buying. Please take a moment to look at the photos as they form part of the description. We are pleased to answer any questions you may have.
