THE NEXT BAND – Four by Three EP – 7” vinyl single on private Gannet (SRT) Records label from 1978 (SRTS/78/CUS159).
You are bidding for a really nice original pressing of the only single released by The Next Band.
The Next Band were a 3 piece band (John Lockton, Guitars; Frank Noon, Drums; Rocky Newton, Bass & Vocals) formed in Grantham, Lincolnshire in 1977. Their Hard Rock / Glam musical style has gained recognition by collectors over the years as being an early example of the UK NWOBHM scene. Their four track EP was recorded at Fairview Studios in Hull in 1978, around the same time that Def Leppard were recording their classic debut EP – in fact Frank Noon from Next Band deputised on drums for Leppard on the EP when their original drummer quit the band.

This is a really great near mint / EX+ copy, which shows very few signs of being played since it was released over 40 years ago.
Visually the glossy sleeve shows a few signs of ring wear and blue ink scuffs to the reverse (from adjacent sleeves), it has a small 5mm tear to the open edge (as shown in photo) and some light creases, but overall this is in wonderful condition which I would grade it a very collectable Ex+
Audibly the sound quality is great with no defects noted during play, although it must be stated that this is a private SRT pressing with 4 long tracks so it suffers from little light background noise between tracks and during run in / out. Visually this looks virtually as new, so overall I would grade it as Ex+.
Overall then a nice Ex+/Ex+ (vinyl/sleeve) copy of this NWOBHM gem, which is difficult to find in this kind of condition these days.
