Peter Hurford, Organ—25 LPs—8 Box Sets. The Complete Organ Works of J.S. Bach played by Peter Hurford, one of the world’s greatest organists. Superb recordings on the Argo label, played on some of the world’s most outstanding organs, including the organ of The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, Toronto; Knox Grammar School, Sydney; Chapel of New College, Oxford; Dutch Organ, Eton College; Abbey of Melk, Austria; Cathedral Saint Pölten; Austria; Ratzeburger Dom, Germany; All Souls Unitarian, Washington DC; Saint Catherine’s College Chapel, Cambridge. 25 LPs in 8 boxed volumes, with liner notes on the music and the organs. Volume 8 includes a convenient index for all 8 volumes of Bach’s works with the volume number, LP, and side references to make it easy to find a specific piece. Recorded in the early ‘70s, these are the original releases on vinyl. The LPs were only played a few times and are in excellent condition. Boxes show some corner wear and surface scuffing, but no fading. Liner notes in very good condition. These recordings were hard to find when they were first released. Now, a complete set in any condition is a very rare find, and in this condition, extremely rare. The complete collection of these consummate recordings, by the world-class organist Peter Hurford, his impeccable technical prowess, and profound interpretation of Bach’s great organ music is unsurpassed, and a must for any serious classical LP collection. These LPs are from my own personal collection that I have handled with great care. Always cleaned my LPs before playing, always kept them in their sleeves and jackets, and played on a top audiophile turntable (B&O 3000) tracking at 1.2 grams. Most of my LPs were either played infrequently or recorded on reel-to-reel tape for more frequent listening to avoid excessive wear on the vinyl.
