Description

An original 1st press of PIOUS BIRD on UK Blue Horizon from 1969. Matrix A1/B1. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover printed by 'Quality Stationery Ltd'. We also have the generic white inner from the time. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a few very slight marks per side, there's one semi-feelable mark during Albatross which does start to sound [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. When on song this copy is capable of great things! The audio is an absolute treat - very addictive. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. By and large a stellar performer which delivers these early Fleetwood Mac tracks with energy and precision. From that angle I cannot criticise. The one issue I ran into was the mark in Albatross mentioned above. It does cause a few ticks in the track and a few static crackles in one patch. Not bad - and not invasive. It just means that in that one section the LP won't play as darn clean as the rest of the LP. But by and large it is a total humdinger. If you need to find out what all the fuss was about with early FM - this is a very good starting place.
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has been looked after. Nice clean front with precious little creasing. Just that stereo sticker applied top right corner. The rear can be a problem area due to the absence of lamination. But this example is looking pretty tidy. No ageing and precious little surface wear - just a tiny surface abrasion top left corner. A bit of edge wear but nothing epic. All the text on the spine is full legible and there's little wear. the openings are still sharp. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) A bit of light ageing. No splits.
