Description
The 1970s album covers from Westminster Gold are (in)famous for their eye-catching photo collages. All the more so because the recordings inside were of classical music, not the psychedelic or glam rock you might expect based on the cover. This listing is for the 1970 release titled The Planets. It includes the music composition from Gustav Holst with Sir Adrian Boult conducting. The orchestra is The Vienna State Opera Orchestra and Academy Chorus. The cover art, designed by Christopher Whorf (credited here as Peter Whorf), is campy sci-fi at its finest! I've seen this advertised as "the banned cover." I'm not sure where it was banned although I can guess why it may have been censored. This record is sealed in cello and in brand new condition. There is an original price sticker on the front, only $2.19 (a bargain!).
