- The Poor SoulsWhen My Baby Crys Decca Demo 1965 release date 25 06 65 Production by John L Barber. Debut 45 by this Scottish Soul influenced group
- Formed in Dundee, Scotland in 1964 when three members of the Johnny Hudson Hi-Four - Johnny Hudson (b. Johnny Moran; vocals), Doug Martin (guitar) and John Casey (drums) - were joined by Chick Taylor (bass). The Poor Souls were one of Scotland’s most authentic soul-influenced groups, taking inspiration from the ‘uptown’ style of the Drifters and Garnet Mimms. They made their debut on Decca Records in 1965 with ‘When My Baby Cries’, a ballad written by Lesley Duncan
