Description: Original 12" vinyl release LP - The Portsmouth Sinfonia Plays the Popular Classics, Conducted by John Farley. Produced by Brian Eno. Record label and cat number : Transatlantic TRA275 Country of release: U.K Year of Release: 1973
Vinyl/Cover condition: VG+/VG (laminate lifting around spine but still fully intact) . Please note the descriptions for VG below- this is not in excellent or near mint condition!! However the vinyl looks quite lightly played- I will try and drum up the courage to listen to it all the way through before the listing ends..
Grading system: I use UK’s “Record Collector” Grading System as follows:- MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface mark or deterioration in the sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in the sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover, or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound has noticably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding,scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration etc.

Well Ive just listened to it all the way through and contrary to my expectations quite liked it!! There is something very quaint and very English about it! Anyway i gave it a spin on my fairly shabby Aiwa turntable at probably a sub optimum volume as the kids were in bed. The results were quite startling. There is hardly any surface noise anywhere on this record even on the many quiet passages. I noted only a few distant clicks throughout and there were no sticks or jumps whatsoever listening to both sides of this record. Visually this vinyl is around Vg to Vg+ but sound wise id say from VG+ to EX. Little lessening in sound quality and certainly no noticable deterioration. Cheers.
