Here is how my albums are graded:


SS - Still Sealed - The record is assumed to be in Mintcondition, as it is has not been opened.  I will explain any cut-outs,hole punches, notches, shrink wrap tearing or any type of damage (such ascreasing, bent corners, etc.).

NM - Near Mint - Cover/Sleeve is beautiful.  Ifthe LP cover does not have shrink wrap, it has high gloss and little or nobumping of the corners; only the slightest signs of wear/handling.  Therecord shows very little signs of play/wear, if any at all; as close as it getsto just being opened.  Only a few Records/Covers will receive this grade,as it should rightfully be rarely used!

EX  - Excellent - LP covers maycontain some noticeable corner bumps and possible scuffing, and 45 sleeves maycontain some light bends/creases.  The LP covers may contain hairlinecreases.  Slight ringwear may be evident for the LP covers. The recordshows light signs of play and/or wear.  May have light scuffs and/or veryminimal, light surface scratches/marks.  It is a very nice record forlistening and/or collecting.

VG+ - Very Good Plus – This isthe most common grading for records that have been handled with care butlistened to and enjoyed.  LP covers may have some creasing and/or morecorner bumps/rubs/bends.  The cover’sspine may show some flaking and some noticeable ringwear could bepresent.  The 45 sleeve may have slight tears and/or creases in it andpossibly some slight splits.  This is a nice record that has beencarefully handled and kept.  There will be signs of wear on the record, andit will likely have scuffs and/or surface scratches/marks.  It should give a nice listening experience.

VG - Very Good - The LP cover maycontain quite noticeable ringwear and/or creasing and some seam splitting couldbe present.  Also, flaking could be more evident, along with some possiblediscolorations from time-to-time, but nothing that would severely deface thecover.  The 45 sleeve may contain tears, seam splits and/or creases, butthe sleeve should still be intact for the most part and look respectable. The record may contain a good amount of surface scuffs/scratches, but thereshould be no ‘feeler’ scratches to cause skipping.  There very well couldbe surface noise, but it should never overpower the music and only most evidentin the quiet passages of the record.
