Description

The vinyl comes in a triple vinyl gatefold sleeve and pressed on heavyweight vinyl. the raconteurs release their second album 'consolers of the lonely' out of nowhere. it was common knowledge, there was a new record in the works from the group made up of jack white, brendan benson and the greenhornes, though nobody expected to to come out so quickly. it contains 14 new recordings and is released on third man records / xl. with this release, the raconteurs are forgoing the usual months of lead time for press and radio set up, as well as forgoing the all important 'first week sales'. they wanted to explore the idea of releasing an album everywhere at once and then marketing and promoting it thereafter. the raconteurs would rather this release not be defined by its first weeks sales, pre-release promotion, or by someone defining it for you before you get to hear it. we all sat round and listened to the album once and declared it a future classic from the motor city - the rhythm section drives, the guitars wail and the vocals drenched in soul. all distinct pointers to something that can only be made in detroit.

 

This is a now very scarce release.
